Marathi Movies : All set for the biggie!!!

Is marathi movie and the level of Marathi movies changing with time? Since last couple of years the quality of Marathi Cinema has improved drastically. Isnt it?? But there is still something lacking which holds back Marathi audience to go and watch movies in theatre. When Maherchi Saadi was released, 7/10 marathi families went to watch the movie in theatres and that too without much publicity, so what is going wrong now?? With so much of ad-campaigns and publicity, What is that something which is lacking, in today's Marathi movies??
Even if you consider the recent past, Saade Maade teen was a big hit, but the reason behind its success was it was a product of Zee. But there is a contradiction to it as well, even though it was a hit, many people did not like the movie, and the feedback was that the story line was similar to the old hindi movie. On the other hand, Walu was another low-budget movie and the banner was also small but still common man went to watch that movie. But if you look @ the stats, the popularity and the TTL(Time To Live on BoxOffice) was very low as compared to Old Marathi movie. What is the reason for this?? I could not find it!! Do you have the answer???

On 4th June, there was a music release of the most awaited Kaande Pohe ... (OOps! Shreyas will hit me for that..) Sanai Choughade starring fresh Marathi faces like Sai Tamhankar, Subodh Bhave, Santosh Juvekar combined with experience of Tushar Dalvi, Bharti Archarekar and my faviii..... Shipla Tulaskar. The promos, trailors of this movie looks vei promising. More importantly it is backed up by Mukta Arts and as per my knowledge this is one of the few Marathi movies which has its own Official website which is again very nicely designed. Movie is expected on 20th June. Whoops!!!, before this post of mine starts looking like paid advertisement for Sanai Choughade i cut off.

Well, my question is pretty simple.

Does Sanai Choghade has that missing X-factor?

Please share your thoughts.
It will make a difference.. ...

Indian Users on Social Network

Social Networking! Yes, yet another blog on Social networking. But since i come from a Desi[antonym of Firang!] background, i would like to share some thoughts about the Indian users and their behaviour on Social networks. As everyone of us know, today maximum number of Indians are on Orkut than any other network. Every Tom, Dick and Harry has an account on Orkut. He/She might not know about an email account but definitely knows about scraps, friends, testimonials on Orkut. Strange isnt it?? I feel all this is coza lack of awareness about cyber world and its pros and cons. These chunnu, munnu [Desi word for Tom and Dick, well i cudnt find one for Harry. sowie for that ;0)] just know that they can make friends much faster than real life and flirt with them and talk any shit.. since their identity is hidden. And these Chunnu, Munnu [i luv pronouncing these words :P] when fall into trouble like black mailing and stuff then they come to know "aate daal ka bhaav" [Desi word for fact ;)]. well i dont want to give u Gyan on internet security, so i l cut that off here... After an overwhelming user response for applications on Facebook, many social networks like Bebo, Hi5 launched their Application platform. Bebo did kick off quite well but for Hi5.. Ohh God! save them, their API's were a complete mess. Sorry Hi5 guys for not adding a lil sugar to it:). Sowie, being a developer i tend to slip more on the technology side. Coming back to these applications, what i found interesting was, people on Facebook are more matured, rather i would say the user base is balanced. People use applications for fun as well as for their business purpose. This is where India is lacking. On Orkut, Indian users, after 4 years of popularity (if i m not wrong, i think Orkut launched in 1999, but picked up in India from 2003-4, though not too sure) of a social network, if the users are still stuck with scrapping and saying each other "Hi and hows u??" then there is something lacking, both on the user side as well as the network side. Recently Orkut launched application, neways this is not a fresh news, its a 3 month old news (14th April, Orkut launched applications). But this i feel was one step which could bring seriousness in the users. But again it has a flip side, till date 70% of the applications on Orkut are fun applications. I remember, during the Opensocial Hackathon, there was a utility application showcased which was Babajobs, which allows users to hire through friends. Well thats a good idea, but guess what?? its lost somewhere in the crowd now.. And if u go thro the application directory, the first five page has hardly 10 utility applications, and this listing is by popularity of applications. So this means, the user base is more interested in doing fun rather than serious stuff on Orkut. But thats really a sad part on India's side. Well, one would call me fool since i m cribbing about ppl using a social network as a fun utility. But this isnt a simple crib, rather this is more of a worry about India's future. Who should be blamed for this?? The application development agencies/firms? No you cant blame them. Oh cmon, every one means business. Sell something which is hot! No one likes rotten cakes, isnt it? They are using the market pretty well and it has given very good opportunites for all the startups in India. I found quite a few interesting applications like emote, Ortist -provides a canvas for artists, PhotoBuzz , Superscrap by Postalz : handwritten scraps on stylish backgrounds. Few interesting utility applications like Babjobs, India Dekha, Type Racer, SMS for free, Books iRead by Ugenie, ebiz cards, etc. well, i feel the Indian users shoud become a lil bit serious and try looking at these applications for business purpose instead of jus sticking to the fun element of it. I dont wanu say that they should stop having fun around it but they should also change their perception and look at it from a business angle. Hope to see this transformation in Indian users soon, otherwise its gonna be difficult.

Yeva konkan aploch asa!!!

HI all, first of all sorry that i have not posted for a long time.. Well, last week i was on vacation. Went to my native.. Hmm.. konkan, i juzzz luaaaaaaaaaavvv konkan... dont feel like coming back from there.. Although i got a very short vacation only a week :( but i enjoyed it to the fullest.. First couple of days i was in Vijaydrug @ my uncle's place.. a coooool place to stay.. jus near the Arabaian Sea and the Vijaydurg fort he has his 85 year old WADA, one of its kind in entire Vijaydurg :o. Its walls are made of jaggery and calcite thats what they say.. gr8 na???

In the afternoon we moved to Mahakali, Adivre, Rajapur thats where our kuladaivat is!. The journey to Advire from Vijaydurg was very interesting , since there was no bus for two hours from Vijaydurg, we had to go to the bank of a sea, they call that bank as Tirlot-Amberi bandar... from there we got a mini-boat to go on the otherside of the sea (Sagve-Shirse). Njoyed it ... masst.. and the fare was also very less. 7 rs / person.. heheh nice na???.. imagine, urself in the midst of a creek on one side you see tall coconut trees and on the other side you see houses with slanting roof's typical konkani houses.. Most of them were painted in green.. yea since most of the families which live near the coasts and who owns these boats are Muslims to be more precise, Kharvi muslims. gr8 ppl, their primary occupation is fishing.. hmmm .. yummiee yumiieee fresh fishes.. Apart from this, i was stunned with the fact which the captain of our ship ;) told. He said that, the point where we boarded the boat is Sindhudurg district and where we will get down is Ratnagiri District, that journey was of jus 10 minutes and if you travel by road then that journey is of more that one and half hour.. gr8 isnt it??? and more than anything else, two districts separated by just a small creek. I tell u, u feel gr8 in the midst of the creek in a boat when it sails on the waves.... simply gr8... From there we went to Adivre, darshan liya and back to my uncle's place at Talere.. There we stayed for abt couple of days.

On Wednesday, we arranged a small picnic to Malwan killa. The most attractive thing abt Malwan killa is that its located in the center of the sea, and here again you have to go through a small boat, the ticket was 27 Rs/ person. return ticket.. lolz... 22 ppl in one boat... gr8 naa??? After you reach the entrance of the fort, the captain and vice-captain :P of the ship says, guys you have return back in an hours time.. otherwise weel leave wdout taking you back.. hehehe.. I was wondering how is it possible to watch this huge fort in an hour.. But i was wrong, there is nothing left inside the fort except a small Shivaji temple and couple of trees which makes u to click click click... We moved of from that place before the sun uncle become more harsh on us... From there we visited couple of more places like, Kalnirnay wale salgaonkarancha ganpati @ Medhe, Malwan. In the evening we visited couple of places from Sawantwadi and returned back home by 7.. :( Cudnt go a beach since my Dad dint want to take us... :(((... Overall the short picnic was reallly gud... On thursday i went to Goa alone @ my frnz place, enjoyed a lot over there too.. had to come back to Talere that day itself since my return ticket to Mumbai was on Friday.. Overall a gr8 vacation... While returning the biggest worry was of the luggage we were carrying, two khokaas of haapoooooooosss amba, 3 huge jackfruits and loads of other things which my mom had bought in the weekly market in the villages which she feels is not available in Mumbai, but m damn sure it will be available even in our nukkad ka shop.. But ho will convince her.. But i enjoyed carrying all tha boja... since i cud give her an excuse of back pain and cud sleep for couple of hours more the next two days @ home .. heheheh.. M smart :P....
